Mountain Biking in Blue Ridge

In November, we spent a day riding the lifts at Bryce Resort. It was our first time riding at Bryce. We were impressed. There are a variety of trails, tailored to varying skill levels, all well-maintained, stocked with tight ramps, tables, wall rides, jumps and berms. We took our hardtails and had a great time, but full swish is recommended. Rental are available at the mountain. Our favorite trail at Bryce was a “blue jump trail” called “brew thru”, however, being a blue jump trail, I would recommend only riding it if you have already ridden a few regular blue trails, and are feeling confident enough to continue. The next day, we went over to Massanutten and rode a few trails. The boys had a lot of fun riding a pump track with a few jumps, but when we were about to head home, we tried to start the car and it wouldn’t start! We tried to diagnose the problem, but weren’t able to, however, from experience, we assumed it was a battery problem, and thankfully, a kind biker let us take a jump from his car, saving us from a long day and possibly night.

Half the fun of Bryce Bike Park is watching the riders from the lift!
